The nationwide General Boycott begins Monday, April 22, 2019. Purchases of discretionary items such as new clothing, cars, appliances, and furniture are postponed. Food and other necessities are purchased from local vendors. Furthermore, locally owned restaurants and bars are not boycotted.
The purpose of the general boycott is to pressure corporate America to become involved in defense of democracy. When sales decline, corporations will pressure the politicians to stop the Trump’s attacks on democracy.
An alternative type of boycott targets specific companies. Boycotts that target specific companies have been going on for well over a year. The purpose is pressure the specific companies to stop advertising at certain news stations or to stop supporting Trump.
